1. TRANSFORMING THE CLASSIC CUT: LEVI’S 501 JEANS

Looking at fashion as a universal language. I created a deconstructed denim publication exploring Levi’s 501s through time.

This project was for a university project on the platform Information and Systems.
We were exploring the word ‘translation’, this led me to investigate the idea of universal languages through the arts, particularly fashion.

The design process involved multiple iterations, each leading me to my final outcome of a deconstructed publication, which featured a denim cover, a A6 zine reformatting my poster design in a pocket size, an accordian detailing parts of my process and cardboard screen prints.

I translated Levi’s 501s throughout time by creating advertisements for
Levi’s in the 1890s, 1950s and 1990s. Using references from the times I was highlighting, I was able to create visual indicators which are most vibisble in my poster designs.

I carried this throughout the whole project, experimenting with the format of my work.
